Also called: Okedo Daiko or O-Shime Okedo Daiko
O-Shime Daiko is another traditional Japanese taiko with dynamic stage appeal. O-Shime Daiko's sustain clearly exceeds equivalent size Nagadou Daiko primarily due to its long body. Major advantage over Nagadou Daiko is the cost, portability: 5 foot O-Shime is around 200 pounds vs 5 ft. Nagadou Daiko to weigh in about 1 Ton. Heads can be tuned in seconds while Nagadou Daiko heads are permanently tacked so it can not be tuned - especially in damp weather.
Mochizuki Taiko's exclusive features: Ratchet tie-downs for quick tuning and extra heavy raw hide heads can be used as O-Daiko (all models) and played with an oak bachi or thick odaiko bachi.
Smaller 2.2 Shaku models feature 24" or 30" body lengths. 24" body is proportioned to be used as Nagadou Daiko (can be mounted to any nagadou daiko positions) for versatility. 30" body is limited to shoulder high horizontal stand for use like O-Daiko, but has been used on Miyake Stand as well as on Slanted Stand.

SPECIFICATIONS & FEATURES
Heads are made from exclusively processed non-bleached extra heavy weight raw hides (same grade as our nagadou daiko heads) for excellent tone and long wear. These extra thick hides will allow to use as O-Daiko and strike with extra thick O-Daiko bachi. Stitches are machine sewn with UV treated heavy cords for superior strength and very tight heads. Perimeters of the heads are painted with tough industrial grade black color polyurethane that resists minor scratches. Body is made of exclusive super tough low density fiberboard that has almost identical physical properties of natural wood and produce excellent tone, sustain and resonance yet much tougher and lighter than wood. Body is finished with industrial grade red color (shu-iro – Japanese dark red color) polyurethane (hammered finish) which resists minor scratches and abrasion. Metal rings (inside the perimeter of heads) are made of high strength carbon alloy tubes for strength and light weight. Metal rings are wrapped with synthetic felt with similar characteristics of dried grass (used in Japan) that functions as a sound buffer. Specially selected soft feel braided polyester or cotton ropes can easily be tighten and for tying knots. Tuning the tone can quickly be accomplished by simply tightening the ratchet buckles which are fastened between two heads with high quality nylon tie-down straps. These ratchet buckles and straps can easily be removed if conventional tightening with rope is preferred.
Short Body 2.2 Shaku O-Shime Daiko body is proportioned shorter than traditional Okedo Daiko body. Body length is proportioned to Nagadou Daiko body for use in place of medium size (chu-daiko) Nagadou daiko at considerably affordable price, lighter weight and adjustable tone. Unlike traditional Okedo Daiko, the heads are made with extra heavy raw hide (same grade used in our Nagadou Daiko) so it can be used with heavy oak bachi.
Long body 2.2 Shaku O-Shime Daiko is proportioned to traditional Okedo Daiko body. This model is designed to be mounted on shoulder high stands only and to be used like O-Daiko.
3 Shaku, 4 Shaku and 5 Shaku O-Shime Daiko is proportioned to traditional Okedo Daiko body. All three of these taiko are considered as "O-Daiko" (Large Taiko) with dynamic stage appearance and deep bass resonance
4 Shaku and 5 Shaku Oshime HIRA Daiko provides exceptional tone and sustain. Having a shorter body, it is much easier to transport than our standard Oshime.
